The work day scheduled for August 14 has been canceled.  Please check back for updates.

So you’ve probably noticed on the DVA website that we are requiring you to register to comment.  Since the site went back up using the new software we have seen an increase in the number of SPAM comments.  We are using software to catch the SPAM, and it works quite well, but it requires that someone approve the comments before they go on the site.

To that end I installed Gigya social networking login.  This will allow you to use your login from most of the major social networking sites to log onto the DVA website, compose your post, and have it go up immediately.  This will cut down on the time required to monitor commenting.

And speaking of things that need monitoring…advertising on Facebook.  Currently FB throws all kinds of advertising on the page.  It tries to “read” the page and place advertising that is related to the page, wall posts, etc.  If you find an advertisement inappropriate please let me known by sending me a Facebook message or emailing me at dva.webmaster@gmail.com.  Describe the ad the best you can, and if you know how to take a screenshot even better (for PC users: in the upper-right corner of your keyboard you should see a Print Screen key.  Hit this key, then open your Paint program which comes with all versions of Windows and hit CTRL and V at the same time.  This will paste the screen image into Paint.)

Save this, attach it to an email or your Facebook message and I can work to get the ad removed from our page if it is offensive.

Have a great weekend and Happy Fourth of July everyone.
